- Established by Law 27,108, enacted on January 20, 2015.
- It was promoted by Deputy Carlos Heller, cooperative leader and president of the Credicoop Bank.
- The date commemorates the founding of the General Economic Confederation (CGE) on August 16, 1952, under the presidency of José Ber Gelbard, a businessman and key politician in Argentine economic history.
🏢 What was the CGE?
- A group of business chambers representing national entrepreneurs, especially small and medium-sized ones.
- It promoted a model of economic nationalism and a moderately interventionist state.
- He opposed the influence of large foreign capital and defended a fairer and more balanced economy.
👤 José Ber Gelbard
- Born in Poland, he arrived in Argentina at the age of 14.
- He began as a street vendor and became Minister of Economy during the governments of Cámpora, Lastiri and Perón.
- He promoted the Social Pact of 1973, aimed at reconstruction and national liberation.
